Happy Holidays from Telluride

December 24, 2009

Hi Folks,

Telluride has been blessed with great early season snowfall and conditions. All lifts are now open with great skiing. A big thank you goes out to the ski patrol department for a safe and efficient opening of the mountain!

Below is a picture of opening day at the gorgeous Revelation Bowl last weekend.

A winch-cat groomed Silver Cloud. Another big thank you goes out to the grooming department for the excellent work!

Telluride's first World Cup event was a great success last week. You can view it on NBC network television December 27th at 11:00 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time). Check it out. This exciting event was made possible by the combined efforts of the entire community. Thanks to all the volunteers, lodgers, restaurants, Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club, Telluirde Tourism Board, Telluride Foundation, Town of Mountain Village, Town of Telluride, USSA, FIS, and the Telluride Ski Resort folks for making it happen. Great work everyone!

Alpino Vino, with its attentive staff, is now open for business. It's the highest wine bar in the world (we think). Yes, those are wine bottles incorporated into the new deck railing. This is a very unique restaurant:

At Alpino Vino, you'll find comfy furniture and genuine people who are committed to providing exceptional guest service:

Mountain Village has new hotels, new restaurants, new retail stores, a new Eco Adventure Center, and a new ice skating rink. You never know what surprises will unfold at Telluride:

Enjoy skiing Telluride, and the wonderful combination of the historic mining Town of Telluride, plus the European Mountain Village, all connected with a free gondola that runs 'till midnight seven days a week. Telluride is truly Unmatched in North America:

Please feel free to post a comment or question; we always love to hear from you. Have a wonderful, safe and happy holiday. - Dave

Hi dave,

I am a former employee who worked for telski food and beverage for 6 years.  I left your first year to finish school, and just want to say I think you are just what Telluride needed.  I am eager to finish and come back to work for the greatest ski resort in the United States and maybe more.  Merry Christmas.

Dave's reply: Hi Derek, Thanks for the kind post. All the credit goes to the Telski staff. Hope you make it back to Telluride soon.

what runs are not open?

Dave's reply: Just the hike-to terrain off the Gold Hill Chutes, Black Iron Bowl, and Palmyra Peak. It is typical that those areas open in January due to their exposure and grade. The mountain is skiing very nice this December.

Great pictures of Alpino Vino, Dave! The staff look great in our Alpen Schatz outfits! I recently posted on my Alpen Schatz Blog, alpenschatz.blogspot.com a piece about Alpino Vino! You have done a good job to create a great European atmosphere high up on the mountain! Look forward to enjoying a warming glass of wine there tomorrow!

Dave's reply: Hi Mary Dawn, Thank you for your kind blog comments, and thanks for your help in transforming the Hop Garden to make it more authentic too. You've got a wonderful store! I'm sure we'll be doing more together. Enjoy Alpino Vino!
