November 25 - opening update

Hi Folks,

The groomers are attacking the mountain today - for the first time this season. They are spreading the snowmaking piles, covering rocks, leveling runs, and smoothing things out.

The maze area at the bottom of Chair 4 at Mountain Village is complete.

I appologize for the dark light in the pictures, the sun was going down as I went out to get these pictures..

Check back tomorrow for another update. Remember, we're opening November 30th!

Wow Dave...

I love the way you keeping us updated. You sure got a way to keep me coming back to check what is up even I dont live around Colorado.

I just wish some other resorts(Oregon)write more along with good pictures on their blog.

Dave's reply: Hi Nate, thanks for being a loyal blogger! We're all kind of excited around Telluride these days - the recent powder dump did wonders for the mood in the San Juan Mountains!

hey Dave...as always great pics!!!once again big thanks for the updates! i'll be staying at the bear creek lodge! is it ski-in/out around this time? hmmm  how many lifts will you open by friday? i mean as a worst case scenario? thanks!!!

Dave's reply: Hi Bart, I don't believe Chair 10 will be operating on opening weekend unless we get another big storm. That is the chair and trail pod which Bear Creek Lodge connects to for ski in / ski out. Never fear though, we called the lodge and they told us they offer for their guests a free shuttle from the lodge to the gondola, Blue Mesa parking lot, or anywhere else you want to go. Check with the front desk when you arrive and they'll give you the details. As far as lifts open on Friday, I'm predicting it will be Chair 4 and the magic carpet. We're keeping a close eye on the potential for a snowstorm over the weekend though. Keep your fingers crossed, do a little dance, whatever it takes :)

Dave,

How can I put this politely.  Make it snow!!! We will be up there for Christmas, me, my girlfriend, and her two cynical teenage boys.  I need to show everybody that Telluride is all that we've heard.  I am getting so excited with the snow pics, and the weather forecasts with highs in the 20's - I just hope that in the next four weeks the heavens will open up with beautiful white blessings upon the San Juan peaks.  Where can we expect to see you on Dec 20th?

Dave's reply: Hi LeeMacD, thanks for choosing Telluride for your X-Mas vacation! I'm sure you're clan will fall in love with our beautiful mountain and community. December 20, humm, I think I'll be right here in Mountain Village - hopefully taking time to make a few turns.

Dave's reply: Hi Katie, Thanks for becoming another loyal Telluride Ski Resort blogger! It's a good way to get a handle on what's going on. Telluride is an awesome town with wonderful people - and not a bad ski resort either ;-) Enjoy your trip and travel safe.

NOw Dave...the question is: I'm driving cross country with a friend next week.  We're traveling west on Interstate 40 to California.  Do we take a chance on you and Telluride and take a 6 hour detour??

Dave's reply: Hi Jessica. We're opening 11/28! Sounds like a good plan to take the detour!
